PRODUCT INFORMATION

The Meindl Island MFS Active Wide is our best selling boot for good reason. These boots are perfect for long treks, mountain hikes and challenging trails, but are equally comfortable on easier trails if you are looking for more stable footwear. The Meindl Island MFS Active is the most awarded boot in history and has received a Gold Medal Award at the 2009 European Outdoor Expo - voted by a panel of independent experts as the most technically advanced, correctly supportive, and proven outdoor footwear for the last 20 years. This boot has a wider toe box than the original Island MFS Active, to accommodate approximately a EE width foot.

Inside the boot, MFS moldable foam lining ensures the perfect fit for every foot shape and reduces foot movement which reduces friction and blisters.  Above the Vibram® Multi Grip sole is a 2cm wide rubber bumper strip (rand) which protects the leather upper at its widest point from damage from sharp rocks etc.

B/C Class boots are the most versatile boot that can take you anywhere from the trails around Vancouver to multi-day trips in the backcountry, lower elevation hunting and alpine hiking. They are heavier and have a more robust upper and sole unit than a B grade boot. They are suitable for occasional strap crampon use but do not have a heel-well for semi-automatic crampons.

Care Instructions:

Constant waxing of the leather is critical to maintaining the overall health of the boots, ensuring they stay waterproof and extending their. We recommend any beeswax-based product such as Meindl Sportwax. Waxing changes the appearance of the leather, making it smoother and darker.

There's no strict rule for how often to wax the boots but if you notice that water isn't beading off the boot anymore or the leather is looking a little dry, it's time to apply more!  Apply it in thin coats all over the boots and rubber guard, since rubber can dry out too. Applying a little to the hooks and eyelets also protects them against corrosion.

If you're heading out on a long trip, it's a good idea to bring a bit of wax and a brush to clean and condition the boots since salt water, mud, and scraping against rocks and rocks will strip the nutrients from the leather.

We offer all of our Meindl customers the following:

  • Free consultation
  • Custom fitting
  • Special orders (if we don't have your boot)
  • 100% rebuildable boots
